rubken discovered 16 months ago- Bernard H. Ellis, Jr., MA, MPH, is the principal researcher and founder of Bernard Ellis and Associates, Inc. Mr. Ellis is a consultant epidemiologist with over twenty years in substance abuse-related research. He was growing cannabis for distribution to those with medical need through health and social workers in Tennessee. In 2002 his farm was raided by state cops. The state decided there was no reason to prosecute this man who was open and frank about what he was doing and why. Then the federal authorities showed up. The long and the short of it is Mr Ellis spent 18 months in a secure hostel and is now under threat of federal siezure of his farm, because he grew cannabis there. The case was flawed and the catagorisation of this man as a criminal is absurd. Visit the site. Help.

- From the outset, Bernie cooperated with the Task Force officers and answered their questions about why he was growing cannabis. At the time of the raid, Bernie was using cannabis himself for pain associated with degenerative joint disease and pain and sleep disturbance associated with fibromyalgia. He was also providing free cannabis to four very sick people - three of whom were dead within months of the raid. Bernie admitted that he had been providing free cannabis to sick and dying people for many years, beginning when he helped establish the Tennessee AIDS Program for the Tennessee Department of Health in the late 1980s.
