jckamler discovered 13 months ago- This site is all about getting a word into the culture. The behavior's already there, it seems, but nobody's known what to call it. Until now. Go to this site. Paticipate. Waste less food. I think part of the point, whether you believe its activism or not, is to get a conversation started about the food we waste.

fymarbles rated 4 months ago- I just learned about replating. I'm still not entirely over my initial queasiness about the the idea. That said, I've lived in big cities and I've seen too many starving people forced to go through dumpsters for their food, so maybe leaving the food, wrapped safely, on top of garbage bins isn't such a bad idea. Whatever the case, it's an idea that's worth checking out.

dynotoaqrimp rated 5 months ago- I prefer handing the food out.

ElDave rated 5 months ago- Better to let someone else have it then go to waste

crzymmmy rated 7 months ago- I can't tell you how many times I've replated without knowing. Now I can do this on a conscious level and feel good about myself at the same time!

daniesza rated 7 months ago- makes sense in this senseless, wasteful urbanity.

espiritu rated 7 months ago- I do that all the time or I give my doggy bag to someone on the street who's hungry. Hardly the work of an activist but someone being mindful of waste and another person's hunger.

billybobgandhi rated 9 months ago- I once read that 96 billion lbs of food is wasted each year in the US alone. That is a staggering number. There should be more than enough food for every person in the US nation and enough leftover to feed at least a few starving nations outside. I'm all for doing something about food waste. I wrote to them trying to learn more and see what I can do to advance the cause in the DC area. I do agree, with others to say that giving leftover food on a waste bin and calling it activism is a bit ridiculous, but there must be a better way. I guess that has to do with the SF culture. There has to be however, some way of really getting the point across that food waste is wrong.

I'll do this from now on. I would rather leave uneaten food though and on a cleaner surface than a rubbish bin. However, why waste a half eaten sandwich?

evilG3nius rated 11 months ago- IMO the cultural practice is already there. The invention of logo and the word ist just about raising awareness.

- LOL, gross... who other than a desperately hungry person would do this. This is a joke, correct?
