John Stossel is usually a fucking moron, but this is a good read.

Hey Flash-Bomb, if drugs were legal crack sure as hell wouldn't be costing 40$ and a crack fiend wouldn't have any need to stab you. Also it's not the crack that makes the crack fiend stab you it's the fact that the crack fiend is a horrible person that makes them stab you. Basically you'd get stabbed either way.

I'm not a fan of Stossel at all; he reminds me of the late Senator William Fulbright who would parade out his 'golden fleece' award for governement waste, oft times simply not understanding what he was attacking and making a fool of himself. But this time, he's dead on target. Frankly, the Chief who went to the DEA and got the feds involved should be fired. Immediately.

Nothing in the War on Drugs is related to the purpose for which government was established, or the powers granted to it. The laws are unconstitutional and not legally enforceable, and those who are involved in enforcing it are criminals.

tecknontatrrone: four people have overdosed on marinol. Don't push lethal drugs on people you sick fuck. Flash-Bomb: Violence associated with drugs is a result of the prohibition against them. It's easier for a kid to get smack than it is to get booz... regulate the shit you don't want people having. How many Capone character's are killing people over alcohol today? None, because that generation weeded out morons like you from policy decisions. Pun intended.

I thumbs up nearly all of these pages.

tecknontatrrone, from what I've heard marinol doesn't function nearly as effectively as actual marijuana because it lacks the large variety of cannabinoids found in the plant... and even if it did, I think if anyone needs to get high it would be cancer patients.
