UK book swap site.

Bought a book and finished it? Don't know what to do with it? If you've read it swap it! Sounds like a great idea to me, although why not try your local library which is free rather than paying for postage. Usually the library can order any book for you if you ask :)

UK's Free Book Swap Shop! | The Library. Put up your own books, find others you'd like to read and swop, only paying the postage.

Great swap site for UK book readers. Many thanks to shotgun-suzie for this. I borrowed it from her.

There is a great one for the americans called titletrader.com...the same format as eswapnow.com (which is UK/EU based). Disagree with review though as I am sure of both Titletrader and eswapnow.com as well as Readit and like the fact that fact of the first 2 sites that you can swap with anyone. Apart from that think they are all great and hope more people get into the swapping thing!

From the page: "Bought a book and finished it? Don't know what to do with it? If you've read it swap it! Welcome to ReadItSwapIt. We have 50413 books available, with many more added each day."
I joined this one and will put up my books to swap, but it's not as good as eswapnow, in my opinion, because you have to want to swap a book from only one person's library rather than a larger collection. In spite of the £5 charge at eswap, I much prefer it because you work on the credit system, which means the likelihood that you'll get the book you want is greatly increased. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I initially reviewed this site in July of 2006, and I thought it was about time to update that review. Let me just say that I was completely wrong in my last review (above) and the site is FANTASTIC. So good, in fact, that I had to shut my library down in November after beggaring myself with postage costs. On the up-side, the trading fever has diminished and I have regained control of my senses, and I *still* love the site. I've also pretty much turned over my library and have shelves of new books for my reading pleasure. Books available to swap have doubled to over 1 million since I first reviewed it, and eswapnow is not even registering on my horizon any more, so if you read, have books you don't want to read again, and you're in the UK, join this site. You won't regret it. A few words of advice from an old hand... Be honest about the condition of your books. Although there are some people who are looking to 'upgrade' their libraries (i.e., make them look prettier), most people on the site are there to read and will not be upset at receiving an old tattered book as long as they KNOW that's what they're going to receive. The penalty for over-rating (intentionally or otherwise) your books is marks off the star system in use, which will put future users off trading with you. I learned this through honestly over-estimating the condition of my books when I first joined the site. Now, if anything, I underestimate the condition of the book. Your 'good' may be someone else's 'acceptable', so 'better safe than sorry' is my RISI motto. :-) Happy Swapping!
