I want to find an underground city. Better yet, I'll make one! maybe. Large stones (similar to millstones) were rolled across the entrance from the inside to protect the inhabitants. A wooden shaft was inserted in the center hole of the stone to roll it into place. Derinkuyu contains at least 15,000 ventilation ducts that provide fresh air deep within the underground city.

Underground Cities Underground cities are still being found in Cappadocia. The ancient Hittites, who came to area from east of the Black Sea around 2,000 B.C., are believed to have begun the excavation here. It is believed that these underground cities were enlarged during early Christians times to provide refuge from invaders and persecutors.

This is a great site though the history and timeline might be a little skewed. Rather than see "The ancient Hittites... ...are believed to have begun the excavation here", it would have been nice to point out that someone was there well before the Hittites - like prior to pre-flood times (Flood no. 1 or Flood no. 2). Gees, and, those Christian guys always taking over stuff and claiming it as their own while the Muslim fellows are always trying to push them out and PLAY-DOH it into their own history (Tee hee). The phenomena of ancient underground cities occurs upon at least five continents. Catholic Jesuit Priests traveling with invading armies into Central and South America at the time of Columbus were very much aware of the existence of underground cities there. Some Jesuits not so keen on sharing everything with Rome did much to keep the lid-stone on the whereabouts of the underground cities (Err, or did they).
