This site is amazing. It is a great checklist to help me see what I have read and what I still need to read. Plus there's plenty of new suggestions on here for me. Not every book appeals to my preferred preference but there's nothing wrong with that!

Okay, here's a question for everyone who's read Lolita...which I did a few weeks ago. What is the reason for it being on any list...most ridiculous novel I've ever read, literary wise I felt it was so much a "plain Jane" sort of read. Other than the fact that it was a "notorious" book at it's time, I can't see any merit in it...So I'm curious as to the views of those who liked/loved it....thx

Always glad to find this type of list... to read the numerous comments that usually go along with it (why did you leave out this one ? this one is just crap ???)

Great list. I put in a vote for "Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas" by Hunter S. Thompson and "Sometimes a Great Notion" by Ken Kesey. Those books are unbelievable.
