Absolutely laughable, idiotic rhetoric. A lot of it doesn't even make sense. "An atheist cannot find god for the same reason that a thief cannot find a policeman". What? Why could a thief not find a policeman? What are you basing this on, you moron? You are trying to take a moralistic concept and apply it to real life - it doesn't work. If a thief wants to find a policeman, he goes to a police station. Thanks for putting yet another nail in the coffin of my respect for religious people, asshat.

None of it is proof. Most of it is circular reasoning. And if you take a minute to really think about almost every quote, you can see that a lot of it looks good superficially but not when examined. For example: "The atheist can't find God for the same reason that a thief can't find a policeman." -- It's the policeman's job to find a thief, so technically this would read that God is lax in his job. Also, it implies that atheists are people who have done something wrong, which is a biased and judgmental viewpoint -- something Christianity preaches against its followers doing. "Absent an absolute moral authority independent of fallible humans, the only meaning "wrong" could have (pertaining to conduct) would be "in opposition to X," or "falling short of X's standards," which are only persuasive to those who have already accepted X." - Calvin Freiburger ---X can mean society really easily here. In fact, moral codes for human beings are created and enforced by society. So, while this quote tries to imply that wrong and right are gray areas if you try and take away a deity or deities; it ignores the fact that societal laws are made by and for the people, and that this isn't necessarily a bad thing. After all, the Bible says to kill people for not worshiping the Sabbath, etc., and we don't listen to that! That makes trying to demean human-sense as fallible, and therefore not as good somehow, seem stupid. Because if you really compare the two you can see how the quote doesn't work. "The real attitude of sin in the heart towards God is that of being without God; it is pride, the worship of myself, that is the great atheistic fact in human life." - Oswald Chambers --- This assumes that atheism revolves around self-worship. In reality, atheism is a lack of belief in faith-based religions. It doesn't imply that a person has pride at all, and that's a biased misconception. An Atheist CAN have pride the same that any man or woman can, but that's a personality trait and not a defining feature of atheism. In fact, is it not prideful to assume you know the motives and feelings of others, just as this quote and many others on this page do? "Atheism is a crutch for those who cannot bear the reality of God." - Tom Stoppard -- Atheism is a lack of belief, so there's no reality of God for them. If you said Zeus, Ra, Odin, or anything else in that quote it'd make as much sense. If a deity is obvious from one man's perspective, due to his faith in that deity, that does not mean anything except that it's obvious to HIM. To Atheists, that man is praying and believing in something that isn't there. That's hardly a crutch: a crutch is used to help you get through rough times. In fact, there are many quotes about religion being a crutch, and not by "the opposition" but by religious people thankful to have had it.

The "Proof that god exists" portion of that site is disgusting. Trying to prove that a higher power exists via Christianity is terribly narrow minded and so full of holes it barely merits being torn apart. Their "Proof" is only a series of set up questions that if you fail to answer how they want they either kick you out of their site to the Disney home page, or tell you that you are wrong and god exists. Yeah, "Proof"... Thanks for giving the word Arrogance meaning.

I agree that it's certainly not "proof" but interesting opinions from great thinkers. From the page: "My argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust. But how had I got this idea of just and unjust? A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line."
