"It also invites foreign exchange students (the school now has three) to say it in their own language." Why are exchange students expected to pledge allegience to a country's government in which they stay only temporarily?

It's hard to believe how close minded and bigoted people can be. All this anger completely misdirected at the most ridiculous things that shouldn't even be issues.

Stupid, racist, and fascist... From the page: "The Pledge of Allegiance is creating an uproar in a high school in southern Wisconsin. Not the Pledge itself, but the language itâ€s recited in. For many years now, Edgerton High School in Wisconsin has allowed students in its Spanish class to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish over the Intercom one day of the school year. It also invites foreign exchange students (the school now has three) to say it in their own language. This year, when Spanish students recited the Pledge on March 11, it caused a ruckus."

For many years now, Edgerton High School in Wisconsin has allowed students in its Spanish class to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish over the Intercom one day of the school year. It also invites foreign exchange students (the school now has three) to say it in their own language. --------------------------- I highlight the above because it was followed with: -------------------------- This year, when Spanish students recited the Pledge on March 11, it caused a ruckus. Parents complained. They demanded that the Spanish teacher, the principal, and the superintendent be fired. And they intend to press the issue at the school board meeting on April 28. ------------------------------ Regardless of what they like and don't like all these complaining parents... unless their children are brand new to the school should be ashamed of themselves for not even knowing what happens in their kids schools. Why should anyone listen to them on actual serious issues when it's clear from the unimportant issues they don't generally give a damn about the school. ----------------------------- They want to FIRE the Spanish teacher? So it's only okay to teach the rug rats Spanish as long as they don't actually use it outside that Spanish class? It's ONE freakin day a year... in retaliation I think the school should now have the pledge said bilingually every single day. And that national guard retiree? Gee I feel so secure knowing what brilliance is out there serving my country with a gun at the ready. I

Thanks to the stumbler who posted this. Ironic how this incident illustrates Obama's "bitter" small towners statement. Please send your moral support by writing a few kind words to the high school principal who is standing up against such destructive ignorance and bigotry: http://www.edgerton.k12.wi.us/contact.php

I don't see what the problem is here. I think the people are just overreacting and attention-whoring. EVERYONE in America is an immigrant, except the Native Americans.
