Understanding of the self only arises in relationship, in watching yourself in relationship to people, ideas, and things; to trees, the earth, and the world around you and within you. Relationship is the mirror in which the self is revealed. Without self-knowledge there is no basis for right thought and action. -- J. Krishnamurtul

To look, to see, before knowing.

Thought is time. Thought is born of experience and knowledge which are inseparable from time and the past. Time is the psychological enemy of man. Our action is based on knowledge and therefore time, so man is always a slave to the past. Thought is ever-limited and so we live in constant conflict and struggle. There is no psychological evolution. When man becomes aware of the movement of his own thoughts he will see the division between the thinker and the thought, the observer and the observed, the experiencer and the experience. He will discover that this division is an illusion. Then only is there pure observation which is insight without any shadow of the past or of time.

krishnamurti is a cool guy; breaking down the barriers of the nation and sectionalism for the sake of unity, while professing individualism. The usual people who oppose him are those with strong cultural bigotry or pride, who typically mistake his teachings as a threat to their culture. I dunno, who the hell really needs culture anyway? As an American, I'd rather have World Peace over "mom, baseball and apple pie."

"The moment you have in your heart this extraordinary thing called love and feel the depth, the delight, the ecstasy of it, you will discover that for you the world is transformed." J. Krishnamurti
