so this person i used to work with just got cought for counterfeiting. apparently they were just scanning them and printing them out on an old HP ink jet printer. the funny part of this story is the fact that it worked for 4 or 5 months. yes, i was as amazed as you are.

This is old news, but I noticed one of the explanations was slightly misleading: the reason for the big purple number five on the back is listed as making it easier to differentiate the bills "at a glance," but this is only partially true. Actually, research at the University of Minnesota revealed that the old design (green on green) was very difficult to read at all for people with low vision or partial colorblindness. By changing the color and making it larger, they drastically increase the number of low vision people who can differentiate the bills (which was impossible with the old design).
