this doesn't affect you? are you joking? the more they overpay their CEOs, the more they squeeze the actual workers who produce things. the less they pay the regular workers, the more those regular workers end up relying on government assistance to get by. who pays government assistance? we do. overpaying the CEOs is part of the reason big business relies on welfare to supplement the paltry pay levels of productive employees. they're not going to take a smaller chunk of the pie, oh no. they're just going to get their chunk from the ones with the least power. everyone is affected by this, don't be fooled.

agree that this imagery is an oversimplification of things. however, if the comparison is based on average salary rates the adjustments should have been taken into account for both worker and ceo

there seems to be no change in the worker's salary over the same period. However I suspect this - and his/her other benefits have also increased. How has the cost of living changed? Interesting diagram, but over simplifies the issues

Unfortunately, as growth increases, so does inequality. The fact is the average American worker is a hell of a lot better off than s/he was in the 1920's.

It's not they who actually do the work, but those below them...and so on down the line. NO CEO should earn more than twice what the lowest paid worker earns - he/she's not the one doing the work...they're just signing off on it.
