From the page: You don't pay to see a doctor. Nothing is free, lady. You will indeed pay to see your doctor; they don't work for free. You'll pay with your taxes. And you'll pay not just to see your doctor, but also for other people to see their own doctors. @AbsintheFiend: because that's what it is. Some of us prefer calling things what they are.

Health care reform is not about single-payer or socialized medicine in the U.S. It is about making the health insurers actually compete and, at the same time, bring a little morality back to the system. I understand that there are a lot of people that feel good screaming about keeping the government out of their lives. Grow the fuck up. The government is already in your life, they're not leaving anytime soon, and no matter how many times you spank it dreaming about your supposed soon to happen revolution, when it comes down to it, you'll go back to your sheep like existence. At least the government involvement in health care would be a step towards upholding what should be our mandate to be good human beings. As for everyone screaming about giving free reign for the private sector, seriously, do you throw your shit, or smear it on the walls? How pants-on-head retarded do you have to be to think that letting big business have less oversight is a good thing? Do you see what happens now? With oversight, supposedly at least? A part of me actually wants you to get your wish. I hope you get a country with no FDA, USDA, or CDC. Enjoy your shit sandwich. Literally. They will sell you shit to smear on a sandwich and tell you its food, and you'll eat it, because there will be no one to stop them and you'll be ecstatic, because no one tells you what to do, no sir. You people want a return to the jungle. As much as I would love to see you have to live in that hell realized, I live in this country too. So excuse me when I say fuck you. I would much rather have my government, which I can at least pretend to have a modicum of control over, in charge as opposed to your so-called utopia run by mega-corporations, whose absolute only motive is profit. One last thing. I have no problem with people making a profit. You work hard, you deserve what you get. There are loads of things that need reform in this country, not least how we deal with welfare and things of that nature. My horror only starts with these faceless corporations that allow group think to override conscience and profit to justify atrocity. How anyone can actively promote that is beyond me.

Agorist. It's only 'stealing' if you've got no say in how it's used. Learn how to use democracy. Boston Tea Party: No Taxation without representation

Yawn. Truth is the US doesn't have an entirely private model. The "socialized vs private" argument is invariable "socialized vs semi-socialized" and it's tiring. Don't know why Stumbleupon would throw this at me.It always strikes me as ironic that they call it socialized medicine considering that it's funded with taxes. Stealing money was considered antisocial where I grew up (except of course when it comes to government - dont' we love double standards?).Disclaimer: I'm sick all the time and have been in the hospital more than a lot of the people writing these pro-socialized medicine rags.

Yes, American health care has it's problems, However that should not be counted as a mark against private health care. Most of the problems are because of government involvement! All of the problems with American health care can be directly or indirectly attributed to government action. This is a serious case of throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Get the government out of a PRIVATE system and it will work. That's the reason why it is called private. If the government is going to incessantly interfere you might as well have socialist medical system. Don't talk about the problems with a private health care when the problems come from the socialization of that very system.
