It is not a counselor's job to make value judgments, period. Any sort of therapist who does so is doing a poor job. As a doctoral student in psychology, all I have to say is that if you aren't willing to work with clients who have different beliefs and cultural standards than your own, then don't work somewhere that will expose you to them. Just have your own little private practice to facilitate your own little opinions.

The system shouldn't have to bend over backwards for people whose beliefs result in their inability to do their job.

From the page: "A relationship counsellor with strong religious beliefs has accused national counselling service Relate of ā€oebigotry” after he was fired for refusing to give relationship advice to same-sex couples."
