I admit that having a million digits of pi on a webpage might not be the most amazing and useful thing in the world. However, it didn't take long for them to generate this number. A computer did it. So comments about them "wasting their time is silly". Plus, perhaps you want to use all these digits of pi in a graphic design of somewhat. Similar to those pi inside pi graphic t-shirts. It's geeky, it's a way to show you appreciate math in a way anyone can understand. People celebrating pi-day (such a cute holiday) could probably make some cute fliers using this information. I know my school group will probably celebrate it.
