LyleDAL discovered 8 weeks ago- From the page: "A Silicon Valley start-up called E-Fuel is showing exactly how ethanol can live up to its name as "the peopleÂīs fuel." The company recently announced that it will soon start selling a home ethanol system, the E-Fuel 100 MicoFueler, which will allow anyone to make ethanol from sugar, water, yeast, and electricity in their own backyard. "

akstumble rated 8 weeks ago- I say bring it on. This is what we need so our country does not have to rely on others for the production of our fuel. I pray that the GOV steps up and approves whatever needs to be approved. That will go much, much farther than the checks they are mailing out.

Besides being nearly $10K investment without some sort of energy subsidy/incentive for alternative fuels, which likely wouldn't fly because as the article says: "To brew ethanol at home, property owners in the US must obtain permits from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau. Currently, however, itīs illegal in the US to run a conventional vehicle on 100% ethanol - but E-Fuel is hoping that regulators will certify all-ethanol cars if their system becomes popular. " As I read this, all I could think of was "The Duke Brothers" on the Dukes of Hazard show and the "Revenuers" chasing them.

robinbal rated 8 weeks ago- "Itīs going to cause havoc in the market and cause great financial stress in the oil industry," Quinn told The New York Times. "

" An awesome idea all in all, but I can already see huge setbacks. If you read all of the article you notice many things that make it very hard to use at first. Even with government rebates most people probably don't have an extra $5000 dollars to spend. There's also the fact that it's "currently illegal" to run a car on ethanol only in the United States. But at least it is a step closer.
