kroztron rated 6 months ago- It was a little bit hard to summarize this article in a clearly. I hope I succeeded. The use of an existing drug miltefosine, used to treat parasites, inhibits the Atk pathway in globular macrophages (white blood cells), which instructs the long lived cells to ignore environmental stresses and not self destruct. The HIV cells infect macrophages and produce a protean that activates the Atk pathway, preventing the cell from committing suicide.
