    well it's more complicated than that. if you dropped the pen closer to the moon's surface or if it were a heavier pen, then it would drop. if the pen was furthur away from the surface i bet it'd float away. please tell me if this is the correct answer, and that this guy wasn't specific enough about the question to get good statistics

    This story is true - but it\'s been around so long it\'s taken on different forms. The first part (including the short survey of other students) took place in 1981. My friend Mark and I are the students in the story. I wrote this up and posted it to a Usenet newsgroup around 1989, and it eventually made it to the web in various forms. The results of the survey are a little shocking, but I\'ve done similar surveys recently and had similar results.
