If an electron was a pixel on your screen, this is how a proton would look. Remember to scroll horizontally to see both the electron and the distance between them

Great explanation of proton/electron relationship.

Is it just me or is that proton just a picture of neptune?

It is good to know I'm more than 99% nothing.

A scale depiction of a hydrogen atom, illustrating the empty space between the proton and electron. Basically, everything we think is solid matter is really over 99.99% empty space. My understanding is that things 'feel' solid because of electromagnetic repulsion between the electrons and protons.

I knew there was space, but this really puts it in perspective.
