- Thanks to Malibu for this page full of very beautiful photos. I liked this for several reasons: the beauty of naked man body, his curves creating a cocooning efect, the tension of each muscle (his strength and his need protection at the same time)the interplay between colour and lack of colour...Wonderful.

inkydevilfish rated 13 months ago- "Haven" by BL Pickard [me] Well, we're weak after all says one stone-faced philosopher to his rheumy-eyed son Rooted trees in the dark, fated to fall, every limb writhing for a more sympathetic sun, away from the seeds from which they'd begun In the crisp afternoon, the Father starts to talk, forgetting who he's talking to and why. About existence, disguising wars as wisdoms, and how every rabbit is replaced with another rabbit, every wolf for every wolf He can feel the sand grains sifting, whispers it softly, words carried away by the sounds of traffic, a girl giggles somewhere Lapsing into a pensive silence, wondering if his own existence may have counted for something, but who's keeping score? He imagines his mind-spinnings as rusty gears, he can hear the creaks and groans, taste sharp, bitter rust The son ties, unties, ties his shoe, looks up in a tree there's a bird nest, with three scraggly baby birds, he watches innocently an unfortunate sequence of events unfurls before his glassed eyes from the nest-haven to cold foreign ground, one little bird drops. The other two are ignorant, unaware of what has become of their brother, their mother flown away somewhere, the son crooks his head and watches for movement he tugs his father's jacket, points to the grey ball of fluff in the grass that may still be alive. The father, startled out of his daydreaming, shuffles over and kneels to lift the bird into his paper skin hands, peering closely as it begins to make noise like an alarm clock going off for the cold hands that cusp him are unfamiliar and he doesn't know what will become of him once he leaves his nest.
