Speedoman rated 2 months ago- LOOK!!! I CAN WRITE IN BIG CAPITAL LETTERS IN A LAME ATTEMPT TO MAKE A WEAK AND UNSUBSTANTIATED POLITICAL STATEMENT, TOO! LOOK AT HOW BIG AND CATCHY THESE CAPITAL LETTERS ARE! NOW CONGRESS WILL SIMPLY HAVE TO TAKE ME SERIOUSLY.

- this is an example of why I'm currently pessimistic about web activism. OK, gotta hand it to the man. He's aiming high. 100 Million Americans is his target. Wouldn't it be 'king brilliant if he actually got that many signing up to his petition! But, realistically, what are his chances?
At the time of writing, he's got 3,155 signatures. And it's been up on the web since April last year. Doesn't look good. Yet, on the face of it, nothing could be simpler for the online US population to sidle on over to the page, add their endorsement and carry on about their normal business.
It's not like they're required to make any serious effort or commitment here. They're not even asked for money. All it takes is about 2 minutes of their time. So where are they? Perhaps they're off signing alternative, better presented impeachment pledges. Do your own search. There are a few around, but none of them attract the levels of support you'd imagine were out there.
And let's face it, we know that EVEN 23% of REPUBLICAN voters would have supported impeachment at the time this page went live and yet not even a tiny fraction of the 66% of Democrats could be bothered to seek out and support sites like this crying out to do what We The People allegedly want. This kind of ineffectual apathy is why Leaders get away with leading and We the People get treated like - and learn to behave like - sheep. - this is an example of why I'm currently pessimistic about web activism.
