I have mixed feelings. On one hand, there are some great suggestions about sneaky little things, such as gconf's hotkey support. On the other hand, many of the comments are banal or downright silly. My biggest beef: don't suggest to beginner Linux users that they can get into root easier if they set a root password. Not only does that eliminate the extra security of limiting root access to those in the sudoers file, but it overlooks a simple way of doing it as it stands: sudo -i.

a list of (sometimes ridiculous) suggestions without a single instruction on how to do them.

It's nice to finally see a useful list of Linux commands/tools/tricks. There are so many sites, and most of them are garbage. Thanks!
