Tesla inherited from his father a deep hatred of war. Throughout his life, he sought a technological way to end warfare. He thought that war could be converted into, "a mere spectacle of machines." In 1931 Tesla announced to reporters at a press conference that he was on the verge... more

In my virgin stumble, Tesla, whom I've never heard of came up. It is awesome to learn about people thinking way ahead of their time, then and now. Just the realization that there are and have been such thinkers in the world gives me hope for mankind. When the right ideas come, will we listen?

Brilliant mind, wasted on an age that wasn't ready for him. Such is the life of many a genius i guess. Still sad though.

His idea is brilliant...unfortunately it will not bring the world to peace! There is no such thing as bringing peace through empowered weapons.

Alfred Nobel (of the Nobel prizes) had a similar idea, thought not such high tech. He wanted to make weapons so horrible that no one would dare use them. The arguments for and against this idea are the same as for the missile defense shield. That said, Tesla was a genius who's ideas were WAY outside of the box. Was he sane? Maybe. Brilliant? Yes. And he demonstrated many of his ideas, lending credence to the others.
