The author writes: "Though I can certainly empathize, as a former food service industry worker I just can't condone not leaving a tip."I disagree; if you perform poorly, your paycheck should show it. One may consider not receiving a tip as something to be upset about, but if you... more

screw the waiting staff, if i start paying tips i'd be as broke as they are. americans are weird about tips though, its usually not expected that you'll tip in the uk

Love the sentiment, but having worked food service in the past, I would never do what the person did in the first pic. Too often there might have been a legit reason for the poor service, and making a big mess like that is just not cool. As for the second, well if the server didn't provide basic service, then he/she didn't deserve a tip. Of course I don't know the situation here, so I can't really judge. By basic service I mean getting my order right and refilling my drink. You do that and you get a tip. At least 20%. If you go out of your way to make me happy, I'll up it to 30-40%.

I seriously dig this because we've become too customary in our society to "have to" tip. Tips should be earned, not relied upon. I don't care that the waitress has three kids and is only making 3 dollars an hour because she "gets" tips. No, fuck that. Earn my extra 20% dear, it's not a certainty.

What kind of childish asshole squirts condiments on a table in a restaurant? They didn't deserve good service in the first place. I hope they spat in their food.
