Tim O'Rielly, of the O'Rielly publishing house, has written a brilliant piece on where the power is in current web content and technology. Based on an coherant analysis of what Web 2.0 could be defined as, it shows how powerful on overview and command of history can be. His analysis is sharp, well founded, and it would be a silly person not to read this material before making business investment decisions. What a wonderful wide-ranging essay on the web-connected society and where the leverage points are. The area he has clearly skirted is potential for mis-use of some of these massive databasing technologies. I suspect his response would be that commercial imperatives will act against this in the main.

Web 2.0 -- an idea without a definition. Web 2.0 -- a completely useless term.

Interesting comparisons of the very different Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 ideas. I'm using the Web 2.0ish Cloudmark spam filter that works really well.

Excellent and important essay. Reminds me of "the Cathedral and the Bazaar." Pay close attention. There's a lot of important ideas here that many are missing. I particularly like "SQL is today's HTML." That'll make it into my classes.

The comparison between Netscape and Google is a bit spooky :-)
