idleCycle rated 4 months ago- Open Solaris 11 was recently released and it has some pretty cool features: For example it uses the ZFS, filesystem which includes support for high storage capacities, integration of the concepts of filesystem and volume management, snapshots and copy-on-write clones, on-line integrity checking and repair, and RAID-Z.
Moreover they also got rid of the system V init in favor of SMF (the service management facility). SMF creates a supported, unified model for services and service management on each Solaris system and replaces init.d scripts.
And of course there's SUN's tried and tested DTrace for all your debugging needs.
The only real drawback at the moment is the haredware compatibility, where Open Solaris lacks behind Linux.
