Open-source hardware = Open-courseIn case you don't know, but one of it's lead founders is Jamil Khatib, an Egyptian muslim ;)

This is a website dedicated to opensource hardware designs, such as CPU cores and all the goodies that go between, with FPGA's you can make your own computer, which is very cool, you can also simulate the different components. To me the main idea is to make Intel, AMD, Nivida and similar companies move up the food chain, by eliminating the IP issues around simple hardware designs etc. An example of this process would be http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenSPARC, a CPU from SUN, released under the GPL, because its released under GPL, any company would be able to make clones of the CPU without having to pay royalties or get sued.

Never really heard of open sourcing hardware...but the idea is still quite cool.
