jungleselecta rated 6 months ago- They need a 'why' page, because to me it just looks like a linuxbios coat-tail rider. Also, what about the emulated BIOS used in open source virtualization software? What does it offer over those in features? They refer to a openbios 'kernel'?? Last update was 5 years ago (oct 03)..

- From the page: "The OpenBIOS project provides you with most free and open source Open Firmware implementations available. Here you find several implementations of IEEE 1275-1994 (Referred to as Open Firmware) compliant firmware."

NC2K rated 9 months ago- Open source BIOS firmware. n00bs need not apply. I'll try these on my old machines.

ar0cketman rated 32 months ago- End run around unTrusted Computing?

dhughes rated 32 months ago- You're not "screwing with your BIOS" you're installing a completely new BIOS. This will compliment anyone with Linux as their OS of choice, or people who like the freedom to choose what they do with their own computer. There are going to be lots of restrictions soon, MicroSoft wants to control your BIOS with EFI (Extensible Firmware Interface). Even worse would be the RIAA or MPA putting something in the BIOS. You think it's bad being asked about licensed songs or other media imagine if your computer won't even start if you have certain songs or movies on your system!

Gravis rated 33 months ago- while i love open source and software, screwing with the bios on your motherboard is extremely dangerous (as it will likely make it into a frisbe) making it foolish to do.

TwoHundredNinety rated 34 months ago- This is pretty awesome.
