Surprise "it's an ecosystem thing". As with honeybees and CCD, the root of the bumblebee problem lies in our modern rationalist drive toward endlessly ordering the world around us. The long-term solution is a return to a more natural ecological order. This interpretation needs to be conveyed when mainstream media tell the CCD story. Thanks to "Anonymous" for sending this article in my way... At long last an article that explores this CCD story a little more in the detail than if it was only an anecdote. But, I confess that after reading Peter Dearman's essay, I find myself knowing not much more than I already knew. I guess what I mostly appreciate in Peter's essay is his conclusion: "... the problem lies in our modern rationalist drive toward endlessly ordering the world around us. The long-term solution is a return to a more natural ecological order". Yes our modern rationalist drive... or to put it in other words, the fallacy of blindly following the logic at work in a mechanism that lays outside of human consciousness: the logic of capital. It is indeed the logic of capital that is responsible for this "... modern rationalist drive...". It is such a powerful logic that we never question it and when we dare question it we always risk being applied the labeling "you are a communist" which closes all possibility of a debate.
