Interesting comparisons that are worth exploring further. How much of what I as US citizen "know" is reality, and how much is the result of a lifetime of propaganda? From the page: "In an age of propaganda and pseudo-democracy, the strongest opponents of imperial power are... more

Interesting, but obviously to be taken with a grain of salt.

There's no point in having a discussion with rednecks... One day your bubble will pop! And you will stop oppressing the whole world.

I think this is a very interesting article. Living in the UK we are constantly told how bad Cuba is. Capitalism is the Holy Grail apparently. I've been to Cuba; it's not like the democracy of Iraq, and is far from oppressed; yes it has problems. I think it's important to point out that no system is perfect. However, Cuba, under embargo for nearly 50 years, a country who lost its so called life line in the Soviet Union still manages literacy rates higher than the US, doctor / patient ratios that are the best in the world, infant mortality rates comparable to the US and UK, and levels of workplace democracy we in the west can only dream of. They have a biotechnology industry which is internationally recognized for innovation, and routinely send highly qualified doctors to disaster zones, even in the US. Cuba is a developing country, remember. As the UK and US finds all too often to its cost, people do not want to be ruled by others. People want to control their own destiny, just as the US did when they fought for their own independence from Britain. You may or may not agree with their chosen political system, but it is THEIR choice, not ours and we should respect their decision, and freedom of choice. After all, Cuba is not killing anyone, even people it sees as a threat; that cannot be said of the US and UK.

An article that examines the constitution of the USA and Cuba and concludes that Cuba is more democratic than America... interesting read I personally think that one thing is what you write in the law and what you do (the US constitution is pretty awesome... But in reality America is so fucked it is unbelievable!!!)

From the page: "While there are constitutional civil rights in both countries, these rights are stronger under the Cuban system. Cuban citizens have the constitutional right to employment, food, free education, free health care, housing including family inheritance , political participation, freedom of expression, personal property and freedom of religion. The Cuban state is constitutionally bound to guarantee these rights." The US is not a democracy. It is a Republic. More Commie propaganda. Oh wow, they can vote for everything, but El Presidente. If they speak out against Castro they get thrown in prison. You people are deluded.
