I wouldn't consider this hacking, but just like the article said, Its a way to hide files without having to download any software that isn't suspicious.

Old and insecure. Maybe nice to hide stuff from your parents, but that's about it. There IS a way to hide data within pictures, steganography, but this isn't it.
