There are lots of citizen's groups around, but the ONE campaign is a great one to join. I often feel that my one singular vote means nothing, but when I add my name to thousands of others on a petition to the Congress to vote for something I believe in, I feel much more effective.

Powered by you? Powered by Bono. Well, what you can see of him. He's been hidden in his own arse for the past fifteen years.

How exactly is this doing anything except making us privileged Westerners feel good about ourselves? There is way too much emphasis on belonging to this "ONE" brand (YES, BRAND) than there is on volunteering and giving us anti-poverty tools. This campaign does not make you an anti-poverty activist.

this is one of the reasons why there is a direct correlation between intelligence and depression. how happy can you possibly get considering the amount of children starving and dying around the world daily? this problem has plagued the world for too long!!!

"The curse of poverty has no justification in our age. It is socially as cruel and blind as the practice of cannibalism at the dawn of civilization, when men ate each other because they had not yet learned to take food from the soil or to consume the abundant animal life around them. The time has come for us to civilize ourselves by the total, direct and immediate abolition of poverty." --Martin Luther King, Jr.

ONE is a great organization fighting worldwide poverty. My school has a ONE chapter, Its pretty big in the St Louis area and apparently a Missourian is raising $30 million towards candidates that support them. Also, they are doing an awesome competition to raise awareness and the winning school gets Chris Rock to talk at their school. I want it!
