- "Ode is a print and online publication about positive news, about the people and ideas that are changing our world for the better." i normally tend to pessimism. i used to stay up at night as a child worrying about the fact that our dying sun would eventually destroy us in the distant future (can't say i was a particularly light-hearted or fun child). it was so nice to pick up this magazine in a waiting room today and flip open to articles on stuff like ending world hunger through organic farming, the science of happiness as it relates to giving, etc. i get really tired of hearing how bad the big bad world and humanity are; that sort of negativism doesn't encourage one to make changes or tackle problems, but rather to accept the futility of it all. it sure doesn't make you any more fun to be around (for whatever that is worth), or to enjoy your life more.

- This magazine has a wide range of alternative perspectives on more than just news. It goes in-depth on many other topics such as globalization, philosophy, kindness etc. A great publication.

- Update: I like their email updates, too. Makes sure I don't forget to check in periodically. Looks like a pretty good magazine. I suppose "Bonnie Prince Charlie" would prefer that we had stuck with common sense instead of the scientific method. Then instead of a M.D., he could just go to the barber for a bleeding. I can personally recommend [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodoric_of_York] "Theodoric of York, Medieval Barber."
