WOW. RARE TWINS. A mixed-race British mom, Kylie Hodgson, gave birth in 2005 to twins, one of each. No, not a boy and a girl. Two girls -- one black, the other white. I think it's just great. My family is comprised of white, black, hispanic, south sea islanders, Filipino, Portuguese....kind of hard to be racist eh?

The odds of such a birth are about a million to one, experts said. Although occurrences of this nature sometimes occur when a woman conceives twins fathered by two different men, this was a much rarer case in which a single pairing produced twins with distinctly different physical attributes (e.g., skin tone, hair color, eye color) rather than a blending of their parents' characteristics.

I remember reading about this. I feel kind of bad for the family. Aside from having to prove that both kids are theirs (you have a white AND black daughter? Uhhuh), the black girl is probably going to have a lot more problems in life compared to her twin. Not being racist, just saying that people unfortunately do still treat people differently based on appearance and one sister will have an easier time than the other, despite coming from the same background and upbringing.

This isn't amazing in any way. If they were identical, then maybe. But it's just two twins getting significantly (and realistically, as far as genes go, I mean very, very, very minutely) different genes. Woo hoo, how not amazing.

This is a great visual example of how the human perception and construction of what a race is can be broken down. Too often we try to fit people of varyiing colors into rigid categories.
