Really intriguing concept pulled off very well. I definitely recommend this. "Push Over" was my favorite.

From the page: "Poetry, at least the spontaneous verbal kind, is the opposite of artificial. It's the natural utterance of people in extremis - extreme anguish and/or extreme wonder and/or extreme gratitude. Even when borne of extreme joy, as it sometimes is, poetry is the speech of people in pain. The pain of love. The pain of loss. The pain of passion. The pain of boredom. Plainspoken pain. Fancypants pain. It's all there for the listening." Very interesting thoughts about poetry.

Musing about the author's experience manning a suicide hotline. Having done the same for many years...I can relate. What he offers is a slice, a snapshot from his perspective which is the poetry in the pain.

On this page, you will find the poetic words of people who called a suicide hot line. So sad and yet somehow so lovely. The writer says, "Poetry, at least the spontaneous verbal kind, is the opposite of artificial. It's the natural utterance of people in extremis - extreme anguish and/or extreme wonder and/or extreme gratitude."
