Zaxy rated 5 months ago- I came across these two stories on Saline's pages, and the stark contrast struck me forcibly:
At Panzi Hospital, where Dr. Mukwege performs as many as six rape-related surgeries a day, bed after bed is filled with women lying on their backs, staring at the ceiling, with colostomy bags hanging next to them because of all the internal damage. Members of the Topeka, Kan., church picket funerals of service personnel killed in Iraq and Afghanistan to protest gays being allowed in the military. They carry signs such as "Thank God for dead soldiers" and "God hates fags."
The first article is about women in the congo being raped with bayonets and chunks of wood so that their internal organs are destroyed. The second article is about Fundamental "Christians" protesting funerals of gay soldiers. I just can't force my mind to grasp how it is that when such unbelieveable, inconceiveable, unFATHOMABLE horrors are being perpetrated in this world against complete innocents (did i mention the burned babies? the slaughtered infants?)... When such HORRORS are being visited upon HUMAN LIVES- how-- HOW, GOD? HOW??? Do these fucking BRAINLESS BASTARDS find the 'MORALITY' to tell grieveing families that GOD HATES THEM? -- or to THANK GOD for the DEATH of ANY BEING???? This is SERIOUSLY the one thing in this world that they find SO abominable that they are motivated to get up and PROTEST IT???? SERIOUSLY??? Not whether or not people are being HORRIFICALLY BRUTALIZED- no, they don't give a DAMN about that!-- no, they're concerned about whether or not our soldiers are GAY????????????????????????????? FUCKING unbelieveable. HOW????????? Them, with their protected lives, here in America- 'land of the free'- which, mind you, those SOLDIERS left the safety of in order to face WAR so that WE wouldn't have to? so that WE could go to work each day, eat at restaurants, and watch tv? Live our lives as though that is the sum total of what life IS? not even having to acknowledge or be aware of the true depth of EVIL that exists in this reality? Hey ASSHOLES! YOU'RE worried about whether our soldiers are fucking other GUYS?? the Congolese have to worry about whether their soldiers are FUCKING THEIR CITIZENS. with BAYONETS.
