sargt000 rated 12 months ago- this is an awesome article. i thumbed up an article a few months ago about the city of san francisco banning bottled water in municipal buildings. i have for months slapped my own ban on bottled water, keeping one of my 5 trusty refillable bottles with me at all times. my work place is awesome, choosing a filtration system over a water company. i can admit - i've slipped a few times, been stuck with no water to be found except from a bottle in a cooler for $1.99. but for the most part i refill my nalgenes. i do this for a few reasons, a few being: 1. i'm cheap. why buy water when it's free from our taps. in my town, the water filtration system is world class, and the water is more pure than most bottled water. (our filtration system at work was put in before the new city system was installed) 2. it's wasteful. i down a bottle of water in practically one gulp. that means a lot of water bottles or carting around a giant one. my nalgene is the perfect size. 3. i'm an eco dork and i make no apologies. my biggest beef is with those dinky one sip bottles. have you seen them? they hold about 4 ounces of water, which probably comes from a tap in a warehouse somewhere in a desert. we're a wasteful society, for sure. recycling isn't only the answer here. reduce and reuse come first. that's my lecture for the day. no more for a while, i promise. well, i don't promise. but i'll do my best.
