I used it about a year ago, and it really had trouble properly displaying CSS. Really there is no substitute for Dreamweaver, short of just hand-writing your stuff. Or maybe Amaya, I haven't really tried it too much yet but it seems cool.

I would love to have a reliable open-source web-development tool, but NVU is buggy as hell. At least half a year ago, when i tried it last.

From the page: "NVU - Finally! A complete Web Authoring System for Linux Desktop, Microsoft Windows and Macintosh users to rival programs like FrontPage and Dreamweaver. Nvu (pronounced N-view, for a "new view") makes managing a web site a snap. Now anyone can create web pages and manage a website with no technical expertise or knowledge of HTML. "

Nvu is an open source HTML editor. While it doesn't have all of the features found in products like Dreamweaver, FrontPage, Web Expressions or SharePoint Designer it does exactly what it is supposed to do, namely edit HTML web pages. Nvu runs on Linux, Windows and Mac OSX. Nvu is free and there are a good many extensions that enhance Nvu.

Firefox and Seamonkey don't have Composer for writing WYSIWYG the way Netscape does. An alternative is Nvu (pronounced N-view, for a "new view"), which is fairly easy to use. Works with Linux Desktop, Microsoft Windows and Macintosh.
