The-Hectinator rated 10 months ago- Looks like a well-trained dog knows how to paddle around on a raft in a pool. Probably not genius, but still worth watching.

gruben rated 13 months ago- wraith is a dick

- I suspect he probably found this out on his own to an extent. I mean to begin with he tries to paddle the side of the pool to get it to move closer. Then he does the entire circuit of the pool before jumping onto the float (instead of straight for it...). hmmmm curious...

arleas rated 15 months ago- That is a pretty damn clever dog... or a well trained dog (as pointed out by Wraith)... I don't know which it is...because the dog didn't go straight for the flotation device right away...
It's equally possible in my mind that the dog has had enough time playing around the pool to know how to jump on something that floats, and how to use a dog paddle motion to move the "boat"...it's possible they've seen the dog do this before and they set up the camera to get it on film...
Who knows how many takes they took to get this footage either... it's still clever...- That is a pretty damn clever dog... or a well trained dog (as pointed out by Wraith)... I don't know which it is...because the dog didn't go straight for the flotation device right away...

DaveSTUD rated 15 months ago- This reminds me of a great story about Richard Feynmann (famous physicist) who trained his dog to "come" but only in a non-direct way. E.g.: not in a straight line, but run around the chair or into the kitchen first. Doggies can be smarties!

- "Man, science really falls down when assessing "intelligence" of animals. Here the dog CLEARLY understands abstract concepts like FLOTATION, THE ADDITION OF FORCE IN A FLOTATION SYSTEM AND FORCE AND LOCOMOTION. Now he did all of those things in a premeditated way to solve a complex problem. Never underestimate the intelligence of animals."
Well, you have to wonder why the floating polystyrene was there in the first place, and why they happened to be running a video camera. My first instinct would be to guess that they might have taught the dog that, and it's therefore nothing more than an elaborate "doggy trick" and no more special than teaching the dog to roll over. (the dog doesn't understand what you are saying what you tell it to roll over, he can't understand english. It appears that he does, but he is just recognizing the sound pattern and has learned to roll over when he hears that because he will get a treat.) - "Man, science really falls down when assessing "intelligence" of animals.
