World oil production is at or near its peak and current world demand exceeds the supply. In its recent 2007 report to Congress, the Government Accountability Office has warned the social and economic effects of peak oil will be both severe and permanent. This article has many interesting and informative pdf documents regarding the impending oil crisis. A lot of people who I have tried to discuss this with are only to happy to bury their heads in their central-heated warm environments and try and not think about what IS going to happen. After reading many, many articles on this subject, my advice is to read as much as you can on the net. Educate yourself on the real facts and figures. Don't listen to mainstream media, as don't forget it's oil that makes the world go round... what on earth do you think the war on Iraq is about, it certainly isn't to do with WMD. Get back to nature, learn lots of survival skills, really think how much of your life is reliant on fuel and now think what your life would be like without fuel and how you would cope. I'm not trying to be a scaremonger or am I a conspiracy theorist, this is all information I have read on the net in the last few weeks. It's up to you to educate yourselves about it, but the first place to start would be is to type impending oil crisis into google and you decide the facts .

From the page: "Facing the Terminal Illness of Industrial Civilization. "The U.S. is desperately dependent on the availability of cheap, plentiful oil and natural gas, and addicted to economic growth. Once oil and gas become expensive (as they already have) and in ever-shorter supply (a matter of one or two years at most), economic growth will stop, and the U.S. economy will collapse." - Dmitry Orlov"
