Awesome yet creepy stop motion wall animation

It occurs to me, the animators, at some point, had a choice of where to take the animation. The "creature" could have escaped out a window or door. Yet they choose an alternate route leading to a loop. I'm not sure what implications this choice has, I only found the choice...

The time that went into this is simply astoundingy, not even the drawing and taking of pictures, but even the mastering and putting it all together into a cohorent product.
