- "How does such an intelligent and cultured society decide to follow a madman into oblivion?" It's a Mob Mentality. When people are forced, coerced,indoctrinated to give up their individualism and become part of a group or collective mind-set, the level of intelligence goes way down. People loose their ability to think and make judgements for themselves. They become just as evil. The peer pressure is deadly. A REALLY GOOD EXAMPLE AS TO WHY NOT BECOME A FOLLOWER, A SHEEP. - Nazi Religion. If you did not live through World War II, you need to look at these pictures and see how Hitler replaced Christian Churches with Reich's churches and bent the churches, Roman Catholic included to his will.
