- "Come Out There" mixed media on canvas, 130x 100cm, Nicoletta Tomaso Children are not the simplest theme for painters - it is all too easy to over-sweeten them and paint something too sickly to be pleasurable. That Nicoletta Tomaso just about manages to avoid this sugary point of no return could be because of her use of a limited palette (amongst other things) and her accentuating those minute clumsy aspects which accompany all children, and are a sign of their growth: in this particular painting the over-sized feet. Though they are perhaps slightly too exagerated they do make the girl look vulnerable, while the composition gives that sense of "on the brink of life" in the big, wild world. A rather touching, well balanced piece this, and one of the more hopeful ones in a collection, which though full of extremely good work, tends somewhat to dwell on sadness.

"De qué manera se fue gestando un nuevo camino no sabría precisarlo, sólo tenia claro tres cosas : huir del realismo puro, centrarme en la figura humana, y pintar desde dentro ...inventar.....imaginar. Así surgieron los amantes. Pintar ese amor, esa isla de consuelo, pintar la energía que nos mueve en ese estado de embriaguez, en el que parece que somos mejores... Pero no quería pintar la "realidad" de esto. No he querido modelos. Yo quería un lenguaje corporal que llevara toda la emoción de este baile del amor, el fisico, si, pero sobre todo el del amor interior, el drama de la pasión, eso que se irradia , eso que no se toca, pero que se siente..."
