taxinfo07 discovered 9 months ago- If this battery which lasts 30 years can be developed, it would be really cool!

HerrKenny2 rated 3 months ago- im in..as long as it costs less than half the value of my car!

Smakkie rated 3 months ago- This is not real. Beta particles are radioactive and very harmful and a 'neutron decaying into a proton' is quite impossible. Finally, when mass is transformed directly into energy, the energy is released as heat, not electricity.

psychicsword rated 4 months ago- It is a hoax http://gadgets.boingboing.net/2007/10/02/30year-betavoltaic-b.html

CaecusMorio rated 7 months ago- Hoax. "National nuclear and particle physics laboratories around the world have spent hundreds of millions of dollars to equip themselves with the necessary accelerators to provide the energies sufficient for studying nuclear reactions. These machines can be anywhere from 5 meters in length, to kilometers in length. We're supposed to believe that a glass bottle with a solenoid in its neck, that is capable of generating impressive-looking sparks, is capable of nuclear fusion on a scale vastly in excess of what the national laboratories can do? Vastly in excess of what Supernovae and Novae can do; some of the most powerful explosions in the cosmos?" http://www.phact.org/e/z/betavoltaic.htm

Calhoun rated 7 months ago- OK they discovered it,ok it works but the reason it wont be on selves in four years is the Patents if they want to stop climate change they must have a moratorium on patents. This must be adjudicated. No, I don't think science, will save world. Scientists cant even save themselves from lawyers

Wasell2 rated 8 months ago- From the page: "Although betavoltaic batteries sound Nuclear they're not, they neither use fission/fusion or chemical processes to produce energy and so (do not produce any radioactive or hazardous waste)."
Bull! Betavoltaics are definitely nuclear (they use beta decay), and they remain radioactive long after their useful life.
BTW, they were invented half a century ago.- From the page: "Although betavoltaic batteries sound Nuclear they're not, they neither use fission/fusion or chemical processes to produce energy and so (do not produce any radioactive or hazardous waste)."
