- Probably Trotsky's most well-written essay. Some of it is rather utopian, but it *does* give a good run-down of some things that most people neglect to realize, such as the fact that many communists back then believed that socialism should be established differently depending on the country and its specific conditions rather than just precisely following what happened in Russia. Instead of making sure you highlight everything you read in this thread as BS or "Commie propaganda," it's important to open your mind a bit while reading this, whatever your political views are. Also note that, at the time he wrote this, Trotsky was already expelled from the Soviet government, so he had nothing to gain if the Soviets took power all over the world.

- The main difference between communism and capitalism is that each economic system is reliant on two opposite and opposing assumptions. Communism assumes that people, at their core, are not greedy power hungry pricks. Capitalism assumes that people, at their core, are indeed greedy power hungry pricks. Thus, because capitalism works well with corruption while communism does not, capitalism is the best run of the two systems. Communism is wishful thinking. That being said, the capitalist system is still a piece of shit. I can't agree with a system of economy where one man can make ten million dollars a year for doing less than a man who makes less than thirty-thousand a year. And unless you're making ten million a year I can't see how you can possibly think that's just. I believe a type of semi-socialist economic policy would be best.

- 1) This belongs under Satire 2) The description of Americans could have quite easily applied to Russians from the pre Bolshevik era before they 'had their heads cracked' 3) Be warned these people are psychopaths & control freaks such as history has learned time and time again - I weep for those under their tyranny. They make the Bush clan look like pussy cats. P.S. wasn't the soviet (communist) emancipation supposed to happen in the early eighties? Don't snigger though; when the wall came down - THEY got out (and appear to have come to Britain to suck gordon brown's ass). 4) Do not relinquish your freedom!

- yea, an economic system that puts the power in the hands of the government... o wait that's a bad thing. As long as the market is truly free and the government is kept out of it completely people will strive and have the same oppertunities as everyone else.
