Nice list of jazz "essentials". Of course, as with most lists like this, there's always artists people will say should have been included or left off (I myself lean toward more contemporary stuff and might question Sinatra- he's a legend but...jazz? Also, did I really not see Grant Green, Herbie Hancock, Wayner Shorter or Weather Report?- see, we all have our nit-picks) this is a good list of artists one should definitely be familiar with when entering the jazz realm.
