I watched a show on this on one of the "Discovery" type channels a year or so ago. I hope they are able to figure out how to stop this from happening again.

Fascinating. I wonder if the siphoning devices could be used to generate electricity, too--seems like a lot of power could be got from that lake.

I remember reading a book (fiction) where this was actually a plot element. So when I was reading the article, I figured it out right away. Even so, the numbers in the article were stunning - not something I got in my lovely fiction read.
