nowsourcing discovered 3 months ago- Beautiful interactive slideshow of the Saguaro Cactus - makes me think of summer :)

BarbaraKB rated 2 months ago- Reminds me of my trip to Arizona last spring. So beautiful are the Saguaro Cactus!

individualathome rated 3 months ago- The saguaro grows only in the Sonoran Desert--a vast dry land located between the horse latitudes and spanning parts of Arizona, California and Mexico. Check out this sideshow and think again when you say its hot.

JakDMSY rated 3 months ago- wonderful interactive slideshow on cactii and their place in the desert ecosystem

Davidlinden rated 3 months ago- Wonderful slide show about the Saquaro Cactus. What an amazing plant.

Gruntilla rated 3 months ago- An icon of the American deserts. Like many habitats they are under threat. Check out the great pictures.

burkinaboy rated 3 months ago- In the desert southwest, where temperatures are high and water is scarce, stands of ancient cactuses tower over the sand and scrub. The giant saguaro is supremely adapted to these arid conditions. With a stem that is up to 90 percent water and ribs that can expand like a squeezebox to accommodate a heavy rainfall, the saguaro hoards the desert's most limited resource. In an ecosystem where water, food and refuge are hard to find, birds, mammals, reptiles and insects flock to the saguaro's succulent and sheltering flesh.
