Unfortunately the people who invented god had the same small perspective.

this image doesnt quite answer concerns about how a god who is both personally involved and all-loving and the actual universe could be reconciled. 'looking for evidence of God is like looking for the Chef in the soufflé' sounds nice until you start using it not only with respect to a creator god but a personal god, as implied with the 'in the palm of his hand' metaphor, since to torture the metaphor a personal god would be like the chef continuing to season his souffle while you ate it, which you would expect to see evidence of; such as, in the christian faith, a success rate for prayer better than random chance.

This brings to mind a quote from ANIMANIACS, "The universe extends, to a place that never ends, which is maybe just inside a little jar"

As I say, looking for evidence of God is like looking for the Chef in the soufflé
