fredzena rated 7 weeks ago- An art student is being challenged by Louis Vuitton for using an image of one of their bags in the graphic image on the t-shirts she's selling to raise funds for Darfur. They meet on May 30th. Here's hoping Louis Vuitton comes to its senses and realizes it would be to their advantage to support this young altruist's efforts.

- The Paris based fashion house Louis Vuitton has filed charges against a 26 year old student artist for selling posters and t-shirts of a Darfur victim, holding a designer bag inspired by a Louis Vuitton design. All of the profits had been going to charity but Louis Vuitton is still demanding massive damages.

My thought was: Since doing nothing but wearing designerbags and small ugly dogs appearantly is enough to get you on a magasine cover, maybe it is worth a try for people who actually deserves and needs attention. When we're presented with the same images in the media over and over again, we might start to believe that they're important. As I was reading the book "Not on our watch" by Don Cheadle and John Prendergast this summer, I felt horrified by the fact that even with the genocide and other ongoing atrocities in Darfur, Paris Hilton was the one getting all the attention. Is it possible that show business have outruled common sense? If you can't beat them, join them. This is why I have chosen to mix the cruel reality with showbiz elements in my drawing". Shame on you, Louis Vuitton.

- Louis Vuitton has set its attack lawyers on this artist using the usual "intellectual property" bollocks. Nothing unusual about this except the fund raised are for charidy and no one is backing down.
