    I'm glad that somebody put a list of USEFUL obscure words together. Some of them aren't quite how I'd describe them, but close enough I guess.

    sanguine      SANG-win cheerful, confident sanguinary      SANG-win-airy bloody (note the huge difference in meaning between the above two similarly sounding words) saturnine      SAT-ter-nine morose; gloomy scurrilous      SKER-a-less grossly offensive and vulgar *** The fellow's sanguine manner abruptly changed and he became saturnine when his sanguinary nose problems became an everyday occurence. The scurrilous language he used as a consequence exacerbated the problem and soon left him a loner.
